Good morning, Cool Beans!
Next weekend it finally looks like weâre getting real summer weatherâand weâve got some outdoor events in mind to make the most of it. Canât wait to be outside and actually feel the sun. Letâs enjoy it!
Find the coolest picks for Chicago, this week:
đ€€ If you are craving something new: Last week we tried Brasero in West Town, a Latin American spot with a cozy atmosphere and sexy lighting. We had the pan de queijo, ceviche, and braised pork shankâso tender and flavorful, we loved every bite. The cocktails hit just as hard; the Singani Mami, made with Singani 63 and mezcal, was a standout. Warm, low-lit, and laid-back, itâs a solid pick for a date or a night out with friends.
đșđ» If your feet canât stop (wonât stop) moving like Michael Jackson: This Saturday, May 31st, Tommaso Confortiâour favorite local DJâis back at our favorite bar, Easy Does It. A Florence-born, Chicago-based DJ and vinyl enthusiast, Tommaso is known for his eclectic sets that blend classic Chicago house with disco, jazz-funk, and balearic grooves. We canât wait to dance with him all nightâhe always brings the kind of energy that makes the room move.
đ€ If live music is your vibe: On May 30th and 31st, The Weeknd is coming to Chicago for the âAfter Hours Til Dawnâ tour, with special guests Playboi Carti and Mike Dean. With great weather on the way, itâll be the perfect night for an epic outdoor show. Click here to buy your ticket and here to listen to our favorite song by The Weeknd!
đïž If the couch is calling your name: We are rewatching Mindhunter and it is such an amazing showâwe donât understand why it got cancelled. Based on a true story, it follows two FBI agents in the late 1970s as they interview imprisoned serial killers to understand how they think, helping to develop the very concept of the âserial killer.â The show also explores how old trauma can have a huge impact on these criminals, adding depth to the slow-burning suspense and complex characters. Highly recommended!
đ If you feel artsy: Last week Tala Chicago in West Town opened Marked, an exhibition by Chicago artist Lola Ayisha Ogbara running until July 20. Using ceramics, sound, and scent, Ogbara creates an immersive space exploring scars as symbols of resistance and survival. Inspired by the Tar Baby folktale and Afrocartography, her work maps personal and collective histories. A collaboration with perfumer Amanda Harth adds fragrances honoring lost Black communities, making the show a powerful sensory experience.
